Joanna's
Story
my name is joanna, and i'm an alcoholic
it's not easy to trudge the road of happy destiny
when the world around us is spinning in a spazzy free-for-all
but like steve ... i'm still here
it's a bloomin miracle
i wanted what you had
and kept coming around ODAAT
one of the most important things that helped me early on
was understanding that i have a disease
i am not morally corrupt, a defective human being
'm a sick human being
i have a fatal malady
but i can keep it in remission
if i just don't pick up a drink today
how simple is that?
another thing i remember is my beloved first sponsor louise s.,
who said "honey, this is grow-up time"stop your whining and let's get to work
she told me her car was on the blink and asked me to pick her up for meetingsi did just that for my first 90 days
we drove all over the west coast of florida every day
when she finally gave me my 90 chip
she admitted there had been nothing wrong with her car
that's how she 12-stepped me, bless her hearti was with family the other day for xmas
i have 6 grandchildren from age 7 to 25 and not one of them has ever seen me drunk
it's all because of you
if it weren't for you, i would never have been able to stay sober
i can't do it alone i need you i need AA
and most of all, HP is right here with us tonight
God bless us all ... newcomers, please keep coming back. we love you. thanks for my sobriety. /ga
