Joanna's Story

my name is Joanna, and i'm an alcoholic sober by the grace of God and AA since 12/16/1977 that's 29 orbits around the sun

what a trip!

for those of you who are new, i strongly suggest you stick around

this is an incredible journey of discovery.

i was bankrupt in every way when i crawled into these rooms

even though i still owned my own home, drove a fancy car, kids in ivy league college .. all the externals were in place

but there was a dark hollow inside me

i was a blackout drinker, and led a double life

i was still 'functioning,' but knew there was something terribly wrong with me a friend in another 12-Step program reached out to me

he said,"do you feel like a squirrel in a cage, running and running, but you can't get out?"

i nodded .. he continued, "I know some folks who can unlock that cage and show you a new way of life. would you like to try?"
would I? you betcha

i hated myself .. was filled with shame and pain

and walked into my first AA meeting that very day.

i've been blessed in more ways than i can begin to describe

but i owe it all to you .. i made it here without the benefit of rehabs or dui's, or court orders

i simply walked in, you welcomed me, took me by the hand, and led me through the Steps into this absolutely glorious way of life.

i'm 77 years old now .. those kids are grown, and i have 6 grandkids.

one of my sons just celebrated 2 years in AA .. i'm so proud

and so very, very grateful to all of you for being here for me.

this program works .. give us a chance, and we'll show you!
thanks for my sobriety .. God bless us all. GA
